As technology and science advance, dentistry is becoming not only more comfortable for the patient, but much more precise. This provides many benefits to the patient and ultimately to their overall dental health.
Lasers have many uses in modern dentistry, like being used during crown preparations.
For a crown to fit the margins around the tooth as closely and precisely as possible, the laboratory fabricating the crown needs to see the margins of the prepared tooth. In the past, a cord was packed around the tooth and the gum tissues could be irrevocably damaged. With the use of the laser, the tissues are treated in a way so the lab can see the margins, and the tissues are able to heal back within 1 to 3 days.
With the incorporation of the laser, the patient still gets the best care and the best-fitting crown with the least amount of damage and discomfort to your gum tissues.
